The Late Sissy Harkin
The death took place recently of Sissy Harkin, aged 84 of Drumboe Cottages, Drumboe Stranorlar.
Sissy was a well known lady with a quiet disposition who was liked and respected by all who knew her. In her earlier years she worked as a seamstress in McGuickan’s factory in Ballybofey and in later years was a much sought after dressmaker who made and repaired clothes for many people in the locality.
A very devout lady, Sissy was a regular attendee of Mass until infirmity precluded her. Prior to her death, she spent some time in Letterkenny General Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital, Stranorlar where she received great care and attention.
Requiem Mass was celebrated by Fr. Kieran Mc Ateer in St. Mary’s Church, Stranorlar. During Mass, readings and prayers were read by Sissy’s friends and neighbours, Mary Henderson, Ann Marie McMenamin, Donna Griffin, Ann Lafferty and Margaret Griffin. Music and solos were by Rois Kelly, Castlederg.
After Mass the cortege made its way to Stranorlar Cemetery where interment took place.
Sissy is survived by her brother, Joe, Drumboe and many neighbours and friends who will miss her dearly. May she rest in peace.
