Swilly Hiking Club: Swilly Hiking Club will commence their summer walking season this Wednesday, April 17th meeting up at the Church of the Irish Martyrs to leave at 6:30pm sharp. Donegal Summer School of Music: This year the Donegal Summer School of Music will run between Monday, July 8th and Friday, July 12th from 10am – 4:30pm with a Saturday Morning Concert on July 13th. Rape Crisis Centre AGM: The Donegal Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre will hold it’s AGM on Wednesday, April 24th at 6pm in the centre, 2A, Grand Central, Canal Rd., Letterkenny. Everyone welcome.
North West 10K: www.northwest10k.com is now open to take online entries for this year’s event that will take place in less than 4 weeks time on Sunday, May 5th. Entry fee is €15 for the run and €10 for the walk. There is no change to the route this year with the race and walk beginning and finishing at the Community Centre. This year’s main benefitting charities are: Special Needs Accessible Playpark Group (SNAP), Friends of Letterkenny General Hospital and Donegal Mountain Rescue Team. A number of other associated charities will also benefit from registering with North West 10K.
St. Eunan’s GAA Club: The Seniors and Reserves were due to travel to The Bridge to face St. Michael’s yesterday, see club notes later in the week for details. The Minors grinded out a 1 point over MaCumhaills at home on Friday night, they will take on Gaoth Dobhair in their final game in O’Donnell Park this Friday (April 19th) at 7pm. The U14 Div. 1 team recorded another good win last Monday, defeating a good Convoy team by 3-07 to 0-02. They take on Gaoth Dobhair away this week. The Div. 2 team travelled to Cloughaneely and came away with a good win in an absorbing contest winning by 3-10 to 3-04. They are at home to Fanad Gaels this Monday night. The Div. 3 team make the trip to face Robert Emmett’s this week after having a free week last week. The Sunday Morning Academy is up and running again every Sunday from 11am – 12 noon. The Friday Evening Hurling & Camogie Academy has also recommenced for 2013. New members from all over Letterkenny are welcome to join. We extend our sympathies to the Kerr and Blaney families and the McGlinchey family and also the Hay family.

North West Words: Schools Poetry Competition Entries are invited to North West Words schools poetry competition. There are 3 categories in the competition: 5th and 6th class Primary, junior level Secondary and senior level Secondary. Students can write a poem on any theme. Entries may be typed or neatly handwritten. Entrant’s name, address and contact number and the category of their entry should be written on the back of entries. Students should keep a copy of their poem as entries will not be returned. Entries should be sent to North West Words, 54 Thornberry, Letterkenny, Co Donegal before May 10th. This is the third year of the schools competition. North West Words has promoted creative writing in the north-west since March 2010 with monthly poetry readings and open mic in Café Blend in Letterkenny.
