At least 9 members from our Campaign travelled to Galway on Saturday 14th April to the National Protest which coincided with the Labour Party’s Conference in NUI Galway that weekend. According to organisers there were up to 5,000 people there from all parts of the country to demonstrate and have their voices heard against the current austerity. Demo began at 1pm in Eyre Square and marched to NUI Galway where local and national speakers made their disappointment with the current Labour Party, the continuous cuts and taxes heard. On Friday 20th April there will be a Can’t Pay Won’t Pay public meeting held in the Ozanam Centre in Dunfanaghy at 8.15pm sharp. Everyone welcome.
Some of the guest speakers will be Thomas Pringle TD, Councillor John Campbell along with speakers from the local and national campaigns. Our protest will have an information stall on Friday 20th April at 12pm at the crossroads in An Fál Carrach.
If you have any questions or concerns come and talk to us. Memberships also available. Everyone is welcome to come and join the weekly protest and stand united together to oppose the unjust household, water and septic tank taxes that the current government is insisting we register for and pay. Bring non-political posters. Our next organising meeting will take place in Lóistín na Seamróige (The Shamrock) on Thursday 19th April at 7pm. Everyone welcome. Info: 0863122784 or 0876111524.
