Twin Towns Boxing Club staged another hugely successful annual boxing tournament on Friday night in Jackson’s Hotel in Ballybofey.
In all there were 14 very entertaining and competitive bouts with boxers from Louth, Derry, Tyrone, Sligo and a number of Donegal clubs taking part, pitting their skills against club fighters. There were also three exhibition bouts among emerging under 11 boxers. The three exhibition bouts were Tommy McMenamin, Twin Towns versus Gary Brolly,Raphoe, Joseph Gillespie, Twin Towns against Michael McNamee, Two Castles,Tyrone and Daniel Lynch, Twin Towns against Aaron McDaid,Raphoe.
The results were as follows:
Boy 2, 36 kg - Ethan Sweeney Brady, Twin Towns beat Cian Patton, Two Castles, Tyrone (3-0)
Boy 4, 52kg - Isaac McLoughlin, Twin Towns beat Mickey McGuinn, Ballincarrow (3-0)
Youth 2,54 kg - Conor Bianconi,Twin Towns lost to Matthew McCole, Dungloe (2-1)
Girl 5, 46kg - Ciara Anderson, Twin Towns beat Shannon Owens, Gilford, Down (3-0).
Middleweight - Kevin McGuire, Twin Towns beat Barry Tennison, Dungloe (3-0)
Light-middleweight - Michael Rushe, Twins Towns beat George Campbell, Ring, Derry (3-0)
Youth 2, 80kg - Conor McGlynn, Twins Towns beat Daniel Downey, Buncrana(2-1)
Light-middle - Brian Gallagher beat Toby Wisenger, Ring (3-0)
Fly-weight - Donna Barr, Twins Towns beat Michaela Stone (Drogheda) (2-1).
Light- middle - Barry Doherty beat G Gaming, Carrigart (2-1), Barry also was named boxer of the tournament.
Light-middle - Lee Bradley, Twins Towns beat Conor Tague, Ballinacarrow (3-0)
Light-heavyweight - Paul Kelly, Twins Towns lost to Stephen Doherty, Letterkenny (3-0)
Two other bouts took place on the night with Ryan Ward Mulrine, Convoy beating Luke McGuire, Drogheda (3-0) and Liam McMonagle, Raphoe beating Michael Maughan, Drogheda (3-0).
