Donegal delegates at the AGM
The National AGM of the Community Games was held in the City Hotel, Derry last weekend with delegates attending from throughout Ireland. President Gerry Davenport welcomed everyone and said that the Games were a huge success last year and thanked the many volunteers for their trogan work in the different areas. A number of motions were debated on and a number of changes will be made to some events for 2020 including Swimming, Chess, Rounders and Rugby.
Gerry Davenport was re-elected for another term as President and Bernie Brennan also retained her position in PR and Marketing. The delegates for the AGM were Manus O'Donnell, Marion Cullen and Tony McCarry.
COUNTY FINALS DATES
A number of dates have been set for the County finals. The Art, Modelmaking and Handwriting finals will be held in the Mount Errigal Hotel on the 14th April at 2pm; closing date for entries is 7th April.
The swimming finals are in Ballyshannon on the 20th April at 8am. The Indoor Soccer finals will be held in Fanad Community Hall on the 7th April. The Basketball finals are in Ballyshannon on the 6th April; closing date for entries 17th March. Ballyshannon will also host the Quiz, Chess and Draughts finals. The Gymnastics finals will take place in the Letterkenny Community Centre 6th April at 4pm. Other events for the May w/e finals include Badminton, Handball, Project, Marathon, Rugby, Duathlon, Table Tennis, Cross-Country and Debating. Anyone interested in entering teams for these events should contact their area Sec.
A well attended child protection course for volunteers was held on Monday in Milford Community Hall. Areas are reminded that all volunteers should be garda vetted and hold a child protection cert.
A Co. fundraising bag packing day will be held in Dunnes Stores, Letterkenny on March 16th. All areas to help out.

Letterkenny Community Games
The area finals in Art, Modelmaking and Handwriting will take place in the Station House Hotel this Sunday 10th March at 2pm. Fee €2,competitors bring own materials.
The area Swimming finals will be held in the Aura Centre on the 16th March at 8am. The Gymnastics finals will take place in the Community Centre on the 6th April at 4pm. The Talent competition includes solo and group music, singing, dancing and comedy sketch, also Recitation. Managers intending to enter the team events should contact a committee member.
Congratulations to Gerry Davenport and Bernie Brennan who were re-elected as President and Director of PR and Marketing at the Community Games National AGM in Derry last weekend.
Congratulations to former Community Games competitor Mark English on winning a bronze medal at the Indoor Championships in Glasgow.
