Paul Hegarty has been banned for three matches by the Football Association of Ireland's Disciplinary Control Unit.

The Finn Harps assistant manager was disciplined for his part in an altercation involving several players and and members of the coaching staff at the end of last month's Premier Division match between Finn Harps and Dundalk at Finn Park.

Ruaidhri Higgins, a member of the Dundalk backroom team, has also been hit with a three-game ban for his part in the incident.

Hegarty will be banned from the dug-out for the games against Shamrock Rovers (Monday night), Cork City (Friday) and UCD (March 15).
