Paul Durcan . . . back training with Donegal

Donegal double All-Star goalkeeper Paul Durcan is back in training with Donegal, fuelling speculation that he is about make a return to the intercounty scene.

The 2012 All-Ireland winning net minder and quantity surveyor has been working and living in Qatar for the last three years. He emigrated to Doha following Donegal’s 2015 championship defeat by Mayo.

And while he played on with his club Ballyboden St Enda’s and went on to win an All-Ireland

club title with the Dublin champions, he cut his ties with Donegal.

He has now completed his stint abroad and returned home before Christmas. The Democrat has learned that he has been training with Donegal for the last two weeks, though he is not in the squad at the moment.

Donegal manager Declan Bonner said recently he was very happy with the two keepers in his squad Shaun Patton and Mark Anthony McGinley.

Paul Durcan is 35, he turns 36 in April.
