Robert Emmett’s record a famous win over Gaoth Dobhair in Donegal U-14 Division Two final

Robert Emmet's U-14s

Robert Emmett’s are Donegal Division Two U-14 League champions following tonight’s win over Gaoth Dobhair, in the  final in Glenswilly.

Robert Emmett’s . . . . . . .  3-13

Gaoth Dobhair . . . . . . . . . . 2-9

Sean Maguire scored two of the goals and Josh Marley the other in the seven point win over a fancied Gaoth Dobhair outfit.

Maguire, Marley, Ronan McDaid and full-forward Ciaran Dalton, who played most of the game in the middle of the field, carried the main scoring threat for the winners.

Aodhan MacGabhann with five points and Patrick Winters and Darragh McGee scored the goals and also chipped in a point each for the boys from the Gaeltacht.

Robert Emmett’s led 1-7 to 0-5 at half-time with Maguire netting the goal and Ronan McDaid, Marley and Dalton hitting the points.

Patrick Winters did pull the margin back to one point when he netted Gaoth Dobhair’s first goal early in the second half.

But Josh Marley responded for Robert Emmett’s with a super goal after a lung busting run from Ciaran Dalton.

And despite a trojan effort from Darragh Ferry and Cathal De Burca, Robert Emmett’s always managed to keep  Gaoth Dobhair at arm’s length for the remainder of the game, before Maguire struck for goal number three two minutes from the end to seal a famous win for the Finn Valley club against the mighty Gaoth Dobhair.
