After a tough fought second half Cloughaneely managed to secure the league points against Aodh Ruadh in Páirc Naomh Fhionáin.

Cloughaneely were the dominant side on the score board for the first half securing 6 points to Aodh Ruadh’s 0-2.
Aodh Ruadh’s first point didn’t come until the 26th minute of play with their second point coming just before the half time whistle from Cian Dolan and a Peter Boyle free. Cloughaneely took advantage of their scoring opportunities in the first half with points from Shaun McGuire, John Fitzgerald, John McGarvey, Martin McGuire and Denis Boyle giving them a four point lead going into the second half.
Had Aodh Ruadh converted a number of their scoring opportunities in the second half the final score could have been very different.
They continually looked like they had a goal in them; with Damian Cleary dropping the ball dangerously in front of the Cloughaneely goals a number of times. However Cloughaneely worked hard defensively to clear the threat.
Aodh Ruadh came within two points of Cloughaneely with two minutes remaining. Diarmaid McInerney was Aodh Ruadh’s top scorer of the day with four second half points. Dylan Gallagher and David Gurrin also added points for the visitors.
However Cloughaneely held off the opposition and finished strongly with points from Darren Ferry, Martin McGuire and Denis Boyle securing the vital home win.
