Two goals in a minute from half-time super sub Darren O’Leary was the turning point in this thrilling affair at the Pearse Memorial Park.
Sean MacCumhaills 2-9
O’ Leary won a penalty in the 35th minute and cleverly converted it.
60 seconds later he pounced on a loose ball and found the net again to stun a previous dominant Ardara side.
O’Leary’s double salvo pushed the winners to a 2-5 to 0-9 lead and they managed to hold out in a wind assisted second half.
Ardara were totally on top in the first half and were well worth their half time lead of 0-8 to 0-4 and they also missed two goal chances.
And to add to their woes Gareth Concarr had a chance to level matters at the death, but he blazed his penalty over the bar.
It took the visitors 11 minutes to get off the ground in the opening half as Brendan McNelis, Gareth Concarr and veteran Brendan Boyle were among their scorers.
But once MacCumhaills found the net on the double this match changed utterly.
Ardara could only manage five points in the second half while the visitors hit 2-5 to record a valuable victory.
Ardara scorers: Gareth Concarr (0-52f), Brendan McNelis (0-3f), Brendan Boyle (0-21f), Conor Classon (0-1), Shane O’Donnell (0-1), Lorcan O’Donnell (0-1),
