Club Captains Denis Kelly and Mary Walsh present Grainne McGettigan of Cancer Care West with the proceeds of the money raised for the Global Golf 4 Cancer 4 flag campaign at Donegal Golf Club.

The first major presentation of the 2018 golfing season at Donegal Golf Club, Murvagh, took place in the clubhouse on Friday.
A mixed Scramble was held in the club on the day in aid of Cancer Care West. Ms Gráinne Mc Gettigan of Cancer Care West, thanked the members and management of the club for their continued support. A total of €1,200 was donated to this worthy charity - with €540 collected on the day.
The club has been collecting money for Cancer Care West for some time, following on from a visit last year from Nick Edmund.
Nick, who is a cancer sufferer and is currently completing a walk from Malin to Mizen, arrived at Donegal Golf Club carrying a golf bag on his back. He placed a special Flag on the 4th Green.
The men’s club raised €290 by donating €5 for every birdie or eagle on the 4th hole up to the end of December. The ladies donated €303 from their Christmas Cracker.
Other donations were made to the Charity Box in the Clubhouse. Nick undertook the Wild Atlantic Way trek in order to fundraise for Cancer Care West.
The winners of last Friday's charity scramble were Tracey Clarke, Norman Noble and Raymond Armstrong; and the runners-up were, Dorothy Woods, Bobby O’ Shea and Seamus Faulkner.
