Pairc MacDiarmada, Lifford
Naomh Padraig GAA,Lifford are embarking on one of the biggest developments in the club's history with a major redevelopment project at Pairc MacDiarmada.
The ambitious development includes the construction of two sand based pitches.
One is on the existing playing pitch and the other, a brand new training pitch adjoining the main pitch.
The plan also includes the refurbishment of the existing clubhouse and dressing rooms.
This includes the addition of two extra dressing rooms, disabled toilets and a conference room.
“It is something we feel we need - to improve the facilities available for our members and visitors,”club PRO Marty McHugh, told the Democrat.
“The estimated cost of the whole development is in the region of €400,000 and it is going to be funded from our own resources and grants from the Sports Capital grant and Donegal County Council.
“We have raised €100,000 so far and we have also received approval for grants of €150,000. We hope to raise the rest ourselves.”
The club will officially unveil details of the development on Monday night in the Lifford Cineplex.
Donegal 1992 All-Ireland winning captain Anthony Molloy is the special guest, and will perform the official launch.
“The aim of this launch is to inform members and the public about the development, and to outline details of the development and the progress that has already been made, at Pairc Mac Diarmada,” Marty McHugh said.
“We will also give details of the plans the club have to turn our grounds into state of the art facilities and how everyone has a part to play, no part too big or small.”
The launch, which begins at 7.45pm, will include a wine reception with light refreshments also being served.
Members are reminded that while the event is free of charge, spaces are limited.
Admission passes are available and can be collected from Slevin's Pharmacy.
