Medallions to be presented to competitors in this year's North West 10k

For the first time the North West 10k will be presenting medallions to the first 1,500 entrants who cross the finish line on Sunday the 6th of May at Letterkenny Community Centre. The introduction of the medallion is already creating added interest in the charity run and walk, which has raised over 750,000 euros for worthy causes over the past 21 years.

10k Chairperson Neil Martin is now encouraging as many people as possible to enter on-line for the event. “There’s less than a month to go now to the North West 10k so it’s time for runners and walkers to make their entries and we would encourage as many people as possible to do it on-line. It will avoid queueing on the day and make the job of the committee that bit easier.”

Mr Martin said the addition of the medallion will give the first 1,500 finishers a permanent memento of having taken part in the North West 10k. “Competitors will still get the t-shirt this year as well but we wanted to do something more to mark their participation.  The reaction to introducing the medallion for the first time has been very positive and there certainly is added interest out there which is good for our two charities Breast Care NW and Diabetes Ireland who will benefit from the event this year.”
