Donegal lost out to Monaghan in Clones in the penultimate game in the Allianz National Football League.

Here are our player ratings for Donegal for the game.

SHAUN PATTON: Not much to do, but had a little more cover this week. 6

PADDY MCGRATH: Great to see the Ardara man back and he had another good tussle with Conor McManus, and the further the game went on the stronger he got. 6.5

CAOLAN WARD: Again used at full-back where the St. Eunan’s man is not really suited. Found it tough against the rugged Kieran Hughes. 5

CONOR MORRISON: Tried really hard and got forward on a few occasions, but more comfortable when man-marking. 5.5

EAMONN DOHERTY: Had a great goal chance when set up by Jamie Brennan, but otherwise found it hard to make a real impression. 5

FRANK MCGLYNN: Getting back to match fitness, there were a few trademark McGlynn runs, and hopefully he will be full flow for the championship. 6.5

EOGHAN BAN GALLAGHER: Again a top man for Donegal, Gallagher is the one Donegal player that is showing penetration from the back and also got on scoreboard. 7.5

MICHAEL MURPHY: Started at midfield, Murphy is still some way from his best form, but still vital to Donegal. 7

HUGH MCFADDEN:  A typical hard-working display from the Killybegs man, who has been consistent throughout the league. 6.5

STEPHEN MCBREARTY: Got on the ball a lot in first half and was at the beginning of the Donegal goal before being substituted in second half. 6

LEO MCLOONE: Made a number of strong runs and should have had a free, but also got caught a few times. 5.5

CIARAN MCGINLEY: In for his first start, McGinley looked short on confidence. Was involved in the goal, but not the marauding player we have seen in a Kilcar jersey. 5

JAMIE BRENNAN: Looked really lively. Involved in all of Donegal’s best moves in the opening half. Got a goal and could have had at least one more. 7.5

MICHAEL LANGAN: A first league start for the St. Michael’s man, it was a difficult day but it will be a learning experience for him. 5

NIALL O’DONNELL: His great talent shone through on a number of occasions, especially in the opening half. Looking physically stronger and still one of our best prospects. 7

MARTIN O’REILLY: In just after half-time, O’Reilly found it hard to make any real headway but will be happy to get back on the pitch after a lay-off. 5

NATHAN MULLINS: In after 42 minutes, the St. Vincent’s man also found it hard to make any real impression after his injury lay-off. 5

CIARAN THOMPSON: The Naomh Conaill man looked eager for work, hit a good point and was off target with others, but will have been happy with this outing. 6.5

DARACH O’CONNOR: In for final 18 minutes, O’Connor tried hard but got little change out of the Monaghan defence. 5

CAOLAN MCGONAGLE and TONY MCCLENAGHAN: Not on long enough to rate.
