Donegal took bronze medals in the All Ireland Novice Men's Cross Country Championships in Dundalk yesterday.
It was one of the highlights of a busy day of racing with the county well represented at the Uneven Age Championships at underage level.
Oisin Kelly of Cranford AC, an athlete with such a bright future, underlined all his qualities once again when racing to a brilliant gold medal in the boys U-13 race.
There were a number of excellent individual performances in some of the other age groups from the competing Donegal athletes who travelled in big numbers for the event.
In the Men's race, Finn Valley AC just missed out on a medal in the club section.
However, the Twin Towns club played its part in helping Donegal finish third county behind Dublin (1st) and Antrim (2nd).
Karl Duggan from Milford and running with Letterkenny AC, led the Donegal team home.
He was supported by the Finn Valley AC group of Mark McPaul, James McFadden, Shane McNulty, Dalton McGuigan and Dermot McElchar.
In the women's race, Nakita Burke of Letterkenny AC continued her excellent run of form by placing 16th in a high quality field.
She led her club to 6th place overall along with Irene McFadden, Jane Toner and Deirdre Diver.
Nakita, Irene, Jane and Leoni Mullen of Lifford/Strabane were the leading runners on the Donegal team which finished just outside the medals in fourth place.
