Comfortable win for St. Eunan's College over St Mary's

St Eunan’s College got their campaign off to a winning start with a comfortable victory over St Mary’s College, Belfast, in Glen, Maghera on Thursday.

St Eunan’s 5-10

St Mary’s (Belfast) 2-4

They won in the end by 15 points despite getting off to a poor start and conceding a goal and point inside the opening four minutes. It took the boys from Sentry Hill well over ten minutes to find their feet. But when they got into the swing of things they went on to dominate the remainder of the half and led 1-7 to 1-2. Seimi Breslin scored the St Eunan’s goal.

It was Deja Vu again as St Mary’s hit 1-2 to a single St Eunan’s point in the opening six minutes of the second period.

But just as they had done in the opening half, St Eunan’s went up another gear once again.  Breslin, Shane Monaghan, Calum Friel and Emmet O’Boyle hit the goals as St Eunan’s posted 4-2 without reply to run out comfortable winners.

Oran Brogan, Sean Collum, Jack Gallagher, Oisin McDaid, Calvin Aidoo and Calum Friel were the standout players in an overall good performance for St Eunan’s, once they got going.

They play Our Lady’s Castleblayney next Thursday in Garvaghy.
