Donegal had one of its most successful weekends ever at the Community Games National Finals in Athlone last Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Competitors took part in a host of events including soccer, futsal, mixed distance relay, cycling, draughts, table quiz, swimming, table tennis, art, handwriting and talent.
The finals had over 600 areas from throughout Ireland taking part in 40 sporting sporting and cultural activities and the first weekend saw 3,500 young people in attendance.
All the Donegal competitors accounted for themselves very well with some excellent performances and a record number of medals coming back to the county.
The county managers for the weekend were Mary Crossan and Cathal Doherty and they wish to thank all the team managers for their assistance and congratulate the competitors on their excellent behaviour. Thanks are also extended to the huge number of parents who travelled to give their support.
The second phase of the finals takes this weekend and the events include athletics, gymnastics, basketball, gaelic and talent. The bus will leave the Tescos car park in Letterkenny at 10am on Friday and returns on Sunday.
