Huge crowds turned out in Milford last Sunday to support the children from the 18 affiliated areas who were competing for a place at the National Finals in August. Chairman Manus O'Donnell welcomed everyone and congratulated all the young people who had qualified from their areas and thanked the great number of volunteers who give so much of their time in organising the different events.
Blessed with lovely sunshine the day commenced with the Cycling followed by the Marathon and then the athletic events.
All gold medal winners will now go foward to the National finals in Athlone on the 19th August. A special word of thanks to the Milford area for hosting the event and all the officals for their invaluable help. The day concluded with the presentation of the Kathleen Hagan Memorial plaque to volunteer, Paddy Cox, from the Buncrana area; an area is randomly picked each year to receive the trophy.
