Finn Harps manager Ollie Horgan is keeping his fingers crossed that the inclement weather won’t hamper his side’s pre-season.
Harps, who signed goalkeeper Conor Winn this week, are due to face FAI Cup winners Sligo Rovers on Saturday(4pm) at Finn Park but the poor weather of late means there might have to be a changing of the venue.
“At this stage, having played a couple of games on astroturf, the preference would definitely be to play it on grass be it at Finn Park or even the Showgrounds.
“But if that’s not possible we will definitely arrange an astroturf somewhere as it’s important we get the match under our belt.”
Officials from Sligo will certainly been keen to play the match as well with the Showgrounds having been deemed unplayable for a pre-season fixture against Longford Town on Tuesday night.
Horgan also passed on his condolences to Harps secretary John Campbell on the death of his son John Jnr in Kilcar.
“It puts everything in perspective,” Horgan said. “Our thoughts are with John and the rest of the family at this tough time.”
