Dylan Traynor took the honours in the Ards Town Centre Races on Wednesday evening with his first win of the season in the U12 Criterium.
Despite the long and tiring journey up from Donegal Dylan worked extremely hard to get himself away in a three man break from the first lap and went on to win the sprint finish on the last lap.
After coming close on a number of occasions this year the young lad from Crolly was delighted to finally get the win. Also flying the flag in style for Errigal on the night was Odhran Doogan who comfortably won the novice race and showed once again that he is definitely the one to watch next year, whilst in the U14’s brother PJ took third place in what was an exceptionally fast and aggressive race.
Conor McIlwaine and Sean McFadden represented Errigal at the National Championships in Carlingford at the weekend in what proved to be very difficult conditions. Conor was lucky to escape injury when he crashed during the road race and was very disappointed, as he said himself
“My race was ended early with a crash and the only positive thing I can take from it is that I didn’t get injured or cut up too bad. Cycling can be a very tough and unforgiving sport, if I were to complain about everything that went wrong then we would be here a long time! Onwards and upwards though, I am determined to train hard and race well abroad”
