The goal brought St. Naul’s right back into the game shortly after Daniel Conaghan had extended Termon’s half-time lead out to four.

Player manager and corner forward McCabe was the right man in the right place to hit the Termon net after Michael Boyle parried a stinging strike from Stephen Griffin.

The goal brought St. Naul’s right back into the game and when with Griffin (2) and Mark Ward pointed, the visitors forged three ahead.

And while Termon hit three points to St. Naul’s two in the closing quarter the men from the south of the Gap held on for the win and the two precious league points.

Termon led 0-7 to 0-4 at half-time thanks to three Ollie Doherty points, two from Trevor Alcorn and one each from Michael Boyle and Martin Sweeney.

Stephen Griffin, who had a big influence from centre-forward, posted three frees and one from Mark Ward.

Shaun McDaid, Kevin McElwaine, Ollie Doherty and Trevor Alcorn turned in top class displays for Termon with Gavin Maguire, Stephen Griffin and Mark Ward the standout players for St. Naul’s.

A four goal second half blitz saw Aodh Ruadh pull off a shock win at Pairc na nGael on Friday night.

Naomh Columba led 0-7 to 0-2 at half-time but a soft opening goal early in the second half from a David Dolan 13m free and the introduction of veterans Kerry Ryan, Niall McCready and Brian Roper turned the tables.

Johnny Gallagher was impressive for the winners with Michael ‘Sticky’ Ward getting two goals, one a penalty after he himself was upended.

Gary Ban McClafferty and Paddy McGroddy scored the goals – both in the second half – as Downings came from six points down to win by seven and take the two precious away points.

A young Urris team got the season up on running with a narrow win over Burt in Urris on Friday evening with Dean Kelly leading the charge while Kevin McLaughlin, Martin Kelly, Alan Friel and Michael McLaughlin all playing a big role in the win.

Shane McDaid and Joe Boyle did all the scoring for Burt.

Red Hugh’s 0-14

Naomh Pádraig got their first win of the season thanks to an impressive first half display. Mark Duffy found net with first attack of the game for perfect start.

Red Hughs responded with two points however Naomh Pádraig dominated the next period of play to hit 1-7 in succession. Aidan Lynch got the second goal and also added a point while Damian Diver added 3 points, Mark Duffy and Dermot Keaveney also raised the while flag while a Martin Duffy penalty was tipped over bar by Red Hughs keeper.

Red Hughs finally started to compete for breaking ball and in an impressive period, hit 5 points in a row however Damian Diver finished half strongly for Naomh Pádraig and found net for third time to leave it 3-7 to 0-7 at the break.

Red Hughs competed well in second half buT the visitors were unable to find that elusive goal that would bring them back into game. Red Hughs managed seven points in half and at one stage reduced deficit to four points however Naomh Pádraig chipped away with points from Dermot Keaveney, Darragh McConway, Mark Duffy and brace from Diver.
