HSE apply to erect two temporary units at the Rock Nursing Home in Ballyshannon

HSE North West have applied for planning permission for development at the Rock Nursing Home in Ballyshannon.
The HSE are seeking permission to erect two “temporary modular units linked to the existing building comprising a total of 26 beds, day spaces and ancillary accommodation”.

The application further seeks permission for the erection of a “services compound (area 18sqm) together with associated site development works, services and signage”.

The Democrat understands this application is another piece in a jigsaw of moves that ultimately will facilitate the next phase in the development of the Sheil Hospital to provide an 80 bed Community Hospital within the Health Campus in Ballyshannon.

Earlier this year we reported that as part of the development at the Sheil Hospital also in Ballyshannon,  that the HSE will be seeking submissions from Building Providers for the provision of temporary accommodation to facilitate the existing residents/patients during the construction phase.

We reported this temporary residential accommodation will be provided on the grounds of the Rock Nursing Unit in Ballyshannon and the application by HSE North West placed this week in the Donegal Democrat is part of that process.
