On the final day of the season, Boyd Robinson’s team got the win required against their understrength guests, who had won the corresponding league fixture 15-10 at the Holmses in November.
However, with more to play for on Saturday at the Glebe, it was the hosts who laid down their marker early and ran in eight tries in all.
Conor Dunleavy set the tone on three minutes following Kevin Durran’s offload and Conal Sheridan chased a Conal McGinley kick over the top in the 10th for a second try.
Durran then went on a fine solo run to touch down the third before the try of the match from the man of the match Craig Herron, who fended off four players to get between the posts.
Letterkenny, 26-3 up at half-time, continued with the assault in the second half. Ciaran Clarke got the home team’s fifth try before a brace late on before 18-year-old Cian Curran completed the rout late on.
