The Donegal Change Makers Project has been successful in a securing €55,000 annual grant from Irish Aid to continue their work across the county to raise awareness and action around local and global development issues.
Kate Wilkinson, Change Makers Project Coordinator said: “We are delighted to have been given our new grant for 2018 – 2019. This is the highest amount we have received from Irish Aid since the project started in 2012. We will continue with our work to raise awareness of local and global development issues amongst adults across the county. We will continue to offer a range of activities and events, including workshops, accredited learning, small development education grants to community groups, and we will continue to work national with our development education colleagues”.
Change Makers is holding its sixth annual seminar on Thursday, 19th April, 10.00am to 1.30pm.
The event is free and takes place at the An Grianán Hotel in Burt. The theme for 2018 is Gender Equality and Patriarchy and the event will include speakers, workshops, debate and discussion, and will followed by a locally sourced lunch.
Kate said: “We feel the theme of gender equality is very timely, given recent events both here in Ireland and globally. We want to raise awareness of this important issue, and give the people of Donegal the opportunity to learn more and to consider what steps they can take to to support gender equality.”
