A county councillor who has raised the issue of having the writing on the historic 'Bridge of Sorrows' fixed on several occasions has said that he will use money from his Members' Development Fund because the money for the project is not forthcoming.
Councillor Séamus O'Domhnaill raised the issue at a recent sitting of the Glenties Municipal District.
The Gortahork-based representative said that he has to use money from the Members' Development Fund as no money is being allocated for the project.
The bridge which is located close to the Muckish mountain is of historic importance. Cllr. Ó Domhnaill feels that it should be treated with the respect it deserves. The councillor added that there was an issue with projects being undertaken and no money being set aside to maintain them.
Independent Councillor Micheál Cholm MacGiolla Éasbuic said that he would also like to help with funding the project.
