Garda appeal after child abduction attempt

Gardaí in Milford are appealing for information after a child abduction attempt in the Kerrykeel area at the weekend.

The incident occurred at around 9pm on Sunday when a boy on his bicycle was approached by a man driving a white van. The man, who was wearing a hooded top and spoke in a Donegal accent, told the boy to get into the van.
The boy fled the scene on his bicycle and alerted his family.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Kerrykeel area on Sunday evening to contact them at Milford Garda Station.
They are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen a white van that fits the description of a Renault Kangoo, or a similar vehicle.
Supt David Kelly said gardaí are treating the incident very seriously.
“We would ask people to advise their children not to speak to anyone they don’t know or take lifts from anyone they don’t know,” he said.
