It will be last post for popular Letterkenny Post Office staff member Liam McConalogue this Thursday evening, when he signs off for the very last time.

After forty one and a half years, Liam will step out from behind the counter at Letterkenny Post Office, for one last time.

Liam is well known in sporting circles and is a member of St. Mary’s, Convoy GAA club as well as an ardent supporter of our county teams.

Thirty six of those 41-plus years have been spent at the Letterkenny office, with the last 14 in the front office and behind the main counter.

His first year and a half was spent in Waterford with the next four in Castlebar, before he moved to Letterkenny.

“I worked in both the front office and in the back office sorting mail in the early years and before the system went computerised,” said Convoy native Liam.

“I have been in the front office for the last 14 years and I have  really enjoyed all that time and have become very good friends with many of the customers.”

Liam finishes up at 5.50pm on Thursday evening, but will be around the office again on Friday to say one last goodbye to his many customers and friends.
