Independent Councillor Micheál Cholm Mac Giolla Easbuic has said that a rescue team needs to be introduced to facilitate the increase in adventure sport in north west Donegal.
The Rosses-based councillor said that the cliff rescue team, which was once established at Bunbeg, ought to be reintroduced.
He said that the service is one that he deems vital for the area.
Eamonn MacAoidh who works with the rescue services in Gaoth Dobhair said that if it were to be brought back, it ought to be brought back at 'the correct level.'
He said that the former team used to train a lot and that this would have to be undertaken should it be reintroduced.
Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuic said that with people, such as, Ian Miller carrying out huge work in the field of adventure sports - it was vital that a local team be trained to facilitate any difficulties that may arise.
