Cathaoirleach calls on Irish Water to replace pipes as water shortage affects Donegal businesses

A Falcarragh-based politician has dropped petitions into businesses in Falcarragh in efforts to mount pressure on Irish Water to replace water pipes in the area.

The Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council, Séamus Ó Domhnaill, said: "I have dropped petitions into businesses in Falcarragh to mount more pressure on Irish Water to replace the pipes that are causing businesses to close down"

He said that the water issue is affecting the community as a whole and that, on occasion, schools, the elderly, shops, cafes, hairdressers, and many other people are left without water.

"I hope to meet with Irish Water officials this week where I will insist that these pipes are replaced immediately. I would urge everyone to sign the petition and anyone else who would like petition sheets for their place of work or premises can contact me and I will get some delivered," he said.
