Spring is symbolic of regrowth and new beginnings
Spring was always my favourite time of year. As we come from the darkness into light, we adjust our eyes to the green fields, yellow daffodils and brighter days ahead.
Spring is symbolic of regrowth and new beginnings. The longer evenings give us a sense of having more time, that we have a few extra hours added to our days.
Spring this year is especially my favourite time of year. Recently while chatting in a hospital waiting room, somebody said to me “I would like more time”. And it took my breath away. This person was being honest and vulnerable, and I was lost for words.
As a life coach my role is to help people find ways to live the life they want or to make the road they travel much smoother and brighter. It has been said that I am a “fixer”. So you see, that statement took my breath away because I couldn’t “fix it”. I cannot give somebody more time.
However, it wasn’t a conversation stopper as I did ask: “How much time would you like?” and “What would you do with it?”
“Ten years” - They didn’t have grandiose plans, parties or sky dives. It was simply more time to spend with family and live among them a while longer.
I am glad to have had that conversation. It is very much fresh in mind and I think will always be a vivid memory. It has opened my eyes to how I live my life. We shouldn't take time for granted.
This column is not to mourn the person I spoke with, but to motivate you to live the life that you want. Now is the time.
This weekend when you adjust your clocks, I suggest you be mindful of time, appreciate it and waste it wisely.
