Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fire which took place in Raphoe on March 18 around 3.30pm.
The alarm was raised in Carrickballydooey Glebe in Raphoe when a farm shed went up in flames on Monday.
There were no animals in the shed at the time of the fire.
However, the shed was being used to store fire machinery, such as, tractors.
Speaking on the 'Nine til Noon Show,' Garda Niall MaGuire said that thousands of euro worth of damage was done to machinery as a result of the blaze.
Some of the machinery was completely destroyed.
"The scene was investigated forensically and we are just waiting for results back to give us an indication of what direction this investigation might take," he said.
The Falcarragh-based garda said that he was appealing to people to come forward with any information in relation to the incident to contact them.
He said that should an accident have taken place and if someone were to come forward and explain matters to gardaí a 'compassionate view' will be taken in relation to events.
