Donegal islanders to vote one day early on the referendum

Islanders off the Donegal coast will vote on the referendum on the regulation of termination of pregnancy one day before the rest of the county.

Residents of Aranmore, Gola, Inisboffin, Inishfree and Tory will vote on Thursday, May 24th.

A total of 745 people are registered to vote on Donegal’s islands - 507 on Aranmore, 29 on Gola, 63 on Inisboffin, four on Inishfree and 142 on Tory.

There is a total electorate in the Donegal constituency of 116,228.

Island residents in the constituencies of Cork South West, Galway West and Mayo will also vote on May 24th.

The rest of the country will vote on the Referendum on the Thirty-sixth Amendment of the Constitution Bill 2018 on Friday, May 25th with voting taking place between 7 am and 10 pm.
