The Gweedore playground on the Derrybeg Industrial Estate has a new public convenience.
A new Portaloo was installed last week and the playground is the first playground in Donegal to have its own toilets.
The new installation is something local Independent councillor Michael Cholm Mac Giolla Easbuig had been seeking for a number of years.
And while the new installation has been welcomed by Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuig, he is now seeking a permanent public convenience on the site.
“It was delivered last Tuesday, and it is great to see. It is something I have been pursuing for sometime,” said Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuig.
“It is a Portaloo and is only temporary and I’m now looking for a more permanent structure and I’m also seeking a permanent toilet on the site.

“The Gweedore playground is very popular and used extensively by both visitors and locals.
“The objective now is to have a permanent structure on the site. And in I'm also pushing for all new playgroups being built from now now on in the county to have permanent conveniences.

Development fund for local road

Meanwhile, Cllr MacGiolla Easbug has assigned his entire personal development fund of€20,000 to a road in his local area. He is hoping to get further funding for the road, in question the main road into Ranafast.
“This is a road I have taken an interest in since I got elected to the council,” he said.
“There are two large bus companies in Ranafast and overall it is a very busy road.
“Realignment work is being done on the road at present and the €20,000 will to continuing that work.”
