Donegal County Council passes 2017 budget with increased spending of €2.2m

Donegal County Council has urged households to be aware of bogus callers claiming to be council staff.

The council said it been brought to its attention that individuals claiming to be Donegal County Council staff have been calling to homes in the south Donegal area under the pretence of checking attics and boilers.

"We wish to advise that Council staff will always carry an ID card and if any member of the public is in any doubt they should check with the Council by calling 074 91 53900," the council said.

"We would urge all members of the public to be extra vigilant especially older people and people living on their own."
