Dungloe Public Toilets are in for a major facelift ahead of the summer season Glenties Municipal Councillors were told at their monthly area meeting.

The matter of  the toilets was raised by Sinn Féin Councillor Marie Therese Gallagher.

And she was informed that finance had been set aside and a major revamp of the toilets was planned.

Cllr Gallagher was also informed prices were currently being sought for the work and it was hoped to begin the work in the next few weeks.

She also received assurances the work would be completed in time for the summer season and the revamp was going to be a high standard.

“It is welcome news. The toilets are very important where the are situated just off the main street and adjacent to the main car park which is used by visitors and busses.

“It was also good to hear they were going to be updated to a high standard.

“The building had a new roof fitted last year and now when the planned work is completed the toilets we are assured will be of a very high standard.

“This  is important too for a town like Dungloe which caters for large volumes of visitors from all over the world all right through the summer season.”

The work on the toilets  is expected to start in the next few days.

And it is hoped it will take a number of weeks to complete.

But it is expected to be open by the end of next month or early June, at the latest.
