Laghey man pleads guilty to robbery at Donegal Town garage

A young Laghey man has pleaded guilty to a charge of robbery of cash of over €1,000 and producing a knife during that robbery, at Donegal Town Circuit Court.

20-year-old Kealan McGlinchey, Riverside Farmhouse, Greaghbar, Laghey pleaded guilty to the charge that he robbed cash in the sum of €1150.60 and £5 stg property of Robert Glenn at the Northern Garage, Drumlonagher on April 11, 2017 and used force on James McInaw putting him or sought to put him in fear of being subject to force.

The defendant also pleaded guilty to a charge that while committing an offence, robbery, a knife, capable of causing serious injury was produced.

Defence Counsel Peter Nolan said his client was a young man with no previous convictions. The counsel asked the court to order a Probation Report.

Judge John Aylmer ordered the production of a Probation Report. The case was put back to next term for sentence.
