Burtonport St Patrick's Day celebrations

Burtonport St Patrick's Day celebrations

If it is a traditional St Patrick’s Day celebration you are after this weekend, Burtonport is the place to be on the big day.
The Burtonport St Patrick’s Day Committee are once again running their annual St Patrick’s Day Celebration of Irish culture.
This year will be the 14th running of the event which has grown in popularity down the years.

The event takes place once again in St Columba’s Community Centre in Acres and is an ideal way to kick off the St Patrick’s Day festivities.
It will run in the early afternoon from 12 noon to 2 pm and is two hours of Irish music, singing and dancing.
And to cap the traditional theme, the traditional gigantic pot of stew will once again be dished out.
“It is always a great day and it has grown in popularity in recent years,” said one of the organisers Breege Ward.
“The Community Centre was packed last year and we are expecting another big turnout this year.
“It is the ideal way to kick off the St Patrick’s Day celebrations.”
Entry on the day will be free.
But for those of you who can spare a few euro the organisers would appreciate donations.
The money collected will be divided among three local charities - Arranmore Lifeboat, the Burtonport Festival and St Columba’s Community Centre.
