Donegal County Council sends delegations to the US and Germany

Three county councillors and two officials will be on official St Patrick’s Day visits this weekend

Three county councillors and two council officials will be out of the county this week on official St Patrick’s Day visits.

Leas Cathaoirleach  Cllr Noel Jordan is on a nine-day visit to the US taking in Philadelphia, New York, and Boston. He is accompanied by Garry Martin, director of service .

They are meeting with various Donegal Associations and members of the extended Donegal diaspora.

The delegation has been attending events in the US since Sunday and will depart on Tuesday.

They will attend Mass in St Patrick's Cathedral in New York on St Patrick's Day before attending the city's St Patrick's Day parade.

The mayor of Letterkenny Jimmy Kavanagh and Cllr Michael McBride will leave for Germany for a four-day visit tomorrow.

The delegation will visit Rudolstadt where they will attend the St Patrick’s Day Parade.

They will also meet with the Mayor of Rudolstadt for an official signing ceremony marking the intent to aim to develop a town partnership with Letterkenny.

Project officer Mary Daly from the council’s community and enterprise section will deliver a presentation promoting Donegal Tourism and highlighting the many reasons to visit Donegal.
