North West 10k committee members with sponsors, charities and Gerry McMonagle, chairman of Donegal County Council and Jimmy Kavanagh, mayor of the Municipal District of Letterkenny

The Breast Centre North West and Diabetes Ireland, Donegal branch are the chosen charities for this year’s North West 10k.

The charities were revealed at Tuesday night's launch in Letterkenny's Mount Errigal Hotel of this year's North West 10k.

Representatives of both charities addressed Tuesday night's launch.

The race is one of the biggest of sporting events in Donegal and attracts a large number of runners and walkers every year.

In its 21 years in existence it has raised €750,000 for charities, chairman of the North West 10k Neil Martin revealed at the launch.

This year’s North West 10k is on Sunday, May 6th, and entries are being taken online at www.northwest10k.com. Entries will also be taken at the North West 10k stand at the Letterkenny Community Centre closer to the day of the race, on Thursday May 3rd and Friday, May 4th from 5 to 7 pm and on Saturday, May 5th, from 3 to 6 pm.

Entry forms and sponsorship cards are available from the Letterkenny Chamber offices, Grand Central Complex, Canal Road, Letterkenny.    

Brian McCormick Sports and Leisure and Donegal Daily are the main sponsors once again.
