Body of missing Donegal man found

The body of the late Jimmy Boyle, 73, from Rathmullan, who had been missing for a number of weeks, has been located near his home this afternoon.

In a statement issued this evening, the gardai thanked the public for their assistance.

“Missing person Jim Boyle was located deceased shortly before noon today during searches near Rathmullan. Gardaí and the family of the deceased wish to thank the public and media for their assistance. The family have requested privacy at this time.”

Mr Boyle had not been seen in several weeks and a search over recent days included the garda dog unit and the coastguard resuce.

Local search teams examined the area around Mr Boyle’s home as well as fields and outbuildings.

A postmortem is due to take place at Letterkenny University Hospital tomorrow.
