What's On in Donegal this weekend

Friday, December 9th

Letterkenny: Letterkenny Music & Drama Group are celebrating their 25th anniversary with a Musical Spectacular Concert in An Grianán Theatre this Friday the 9th and Saturday the 10th of December at 8pm. Come relive classic songs from all your favourite shows including The Sound of Music, Calamity Jane, Les Miserables, The Buddy Holly Story, Sister Act and many more! Tickets €15/€12.

Ballintra: Variety Concert to be held in St. Brigid’s Community Centre on Friday 9th December at 8pm which will showcase lots of local talent. The line up includes Barry Breslin and friends, three generations of the McGrory family, The Ballinakillew Dancers, Sadhbh Rooney, Barbara Edwards and the new Youth Choir, Stephen Anderson, plus Laghey and Ballintra school groups.

Bundoran: Christmas exhibition with a variety of work in Bundoran, opening reception at Unit 4, Bundoran Retail Park, at 7.00pm on the 9th, if you happen to be around.

Bundoran: Bundoran Community Centre Open Night on Friday 9 December at 7.00 pm – 9.00 pm. Refreshments served.  Children bring their wish to put on the Christmas Tree.  Come and see the new Community Centre.  Everyone welcome.

Gaoth Dobhair: Anniversay exhibition opens at 7.30pm at Gaoth Dobhair industrial estate.

Burtonport: The Annual Christmas Craft Fair takes place in the Welcome Centre, Burtonport on Friday 9th December from 2pm to 9pm. Carols will be song by “Beyond Blue” who are a very talented group. Mulled wines, mince pies and all sorts of goodies.

Ballyshannon: Coláiste Cholmcille Christmas Fair. Santa and his TY elves have been very busy lately in Coláiste Cholmcille, Ballyshannon, preparing lots of wonderful gifts for the school's very first Christmas Fair, this Friday (Dec. 9th), in aid of the Make A Wish charity. Fairy doors, bath bombs, handmade copperwire bracelets, wooden Christmas ornaments, baked goods, wreaths, Christmas cards, Christmas logs, home made chutneys, decorated candle holders, personalised Christmas baubles, jars of sweets, bottles of hot chocolate, M&M jars, and much more will be on sale in the in the Mercy Hall from 10am to 4pm.

Saturday, December 10th

Cashelard: There will be a vigil in memory of missing girl Mary Boyle on Saturday at the gate to the Cashelard farm where she was last seen nearly 40 years ago. The vigil is to begin at 12 noon on Saturday, December 10th, at the gates of the Gallagher farm in Cashelard, Ballyshannon, where Mary, then age 6, was last seen in March of 1977.

 

Sunday, December 11th

Ballyshannon: The Abbey Arts Centre present their annual panto, Robin Hood and Babes in the Wood at the Abbey Centre from Sunday 11th December to Saturday 18th December. Sunday's show starts at 5pm.

Barnesmore: Barnesmore Community Centre annual Christmas Party next Sunday Dec 11th from 3-5pm In Barnesmore Hall. There will be a film popcorn, and lots of fun as well as mulled wine and Santa himself, €5 per child. All welcome

Donegal Town: Fairy Walk - Join the fairies down the bank walk on Sunday the 11th of December at 3pm. Fairy doors and fairy lights will light up the walk and make it magical for Christmas. The event is being organised by Donegal Dragons, Donegal Bay Rowing Club and RNLI.

All proceeds are going to the Laura Lynn foundation for children with cancer. Everyone is welcome.

Letterkenny: Fr Damien Lejad  will be ordained at Mass in St Eunan's Cathedral, Letterkenny at 3 p.m. on Sun., 11th Dec. He will then celebrate his 1st Mass in St Mary's Star of the Sea Church in Annagry at 7.30 p.m. on the following day, Mon., 12th Dec. Refreshments will be served in Annagry Hall afterwards. All welcome to the Mass and the Hall.

Laghey: Laghey Christmas Lights - The Christmas Lights Switch On will take place this Sunday 11th December at 6pm with carol singing and rumours that Santa may even make a special guest appearance.

Bundoran: Bundoran’s 3rd Annual Christmas Craft Fair at Magh Ene College 11:00 am- 4:00 pm on Sunday 11th December.  To book a stall please ring 0852459282.
