Donegal group to attend Usain Bolt film world premiere in London

A group of Finn Valley Athletic Club members are all set for the red carpet next Monday evening in London where they will attend the world premiere of Usain Bolt's film 'I Am Bolt'.

The group will include members of the Simms family from Milford who will be at the launch at the Odeon in Leicester Square.

They will mingle with stars of sport and screen and of course join with the iconic main man himself Usain Bolt.

The invitations come via Richard and Marian Simms who have been such an influence on the Jamaican athlete's career.

The Simms connection can be traced back to a period initially at 16 years old when Bolt won a world junior title. His success is charted upwards and onwards to the Olympics in  Beijing, London and Rio where he won and defended his titles adding world records and world titles to the list.

Through all this success was Ricky Simms at his shoulder.

For the Finn Valley AC group it should prove a thrilling and enjoyable experience all thanks to Ricky Simms,  who began his athletics career while at the Royal & Prior School and Finn Valley AC and was to become, in the years ahead, a massive influence to so many world lead athletes.

Commenting on the film, Usain Bolt said he wanted to show people what is life is really like: “My aim with making this film is to show people how my life really is … What I’ve been through to get me where I am today, the ups and the downs, and an insight into what I am thinking and feeling,” Bolt claimed.“I know a lot of people around the world feel like they know me already but I’m excited for everyone to see the real me in I Am Bolt.”

Monday evening in London should prove a hugely interesting experience for the Donegal contingent.
