Stranorlar area councillors seeks tourism committee

Tourism potential of the Finn Valley needs to be maximised - pictured here is a beautiful image of Stranorlar and the Finn River.

The Stranorlar Municipal District is to establish a tourism committee to maximise the area's tourism potential.

"I think there's great tourism potential here that we're not tapping into," said Sinn Féin Cllr Gary Doherty, who tabled the motion to set up the committee at this morning's reconvened Stranorlar Municipal District meeting.

Cllr Doherty said the committee should include sectoral interests, community representatives, councillors and council officials.

"We're not utilising what we have," Cllr Doherty said, saying later that by working with the sectors represented on the committee, "we could really maximise the potential we have for tourism."

Sinn Féin Cllr Liam Doherty seconded the motion.
