Boyle Sports reported that a Donegal online punter netted more than €20,000 with a €15 sporting double.
They said the punter, who wishes to remain anonymous, placed a €15 double on Ireland to beat New Zealand at 10/1 and Thorbjorn Olesen to win the Turkish Open at 125/1.
Olesen won the Turkish Open by three shots, defying the odds of 1385/1 for the Donegal punter, resulting in his €15 double being turned into €20,790.
“We would like to congratulate the lucky punter on their crystal ball pickings and have to say hats off to them for defying the odds of 1385/1,” Liam Glynn, BoyleSports spokesman said. He said, “No doubt they were sweating a couple of times on Saturday evening, as at one stage the All Blacks came back at Ireland and also on Sunday as Olesen saw his seven-stroke overnight lead reduced to just one shot.”
