Charity calendar launched for Donegal Hospice

Well-known charity worker and photographer, Brendan ‘Tiny’ Vaughan launched his annual charity calendar in aid of the Donegal Hospice today.

Brendan, who is originally from Carrigart and now lives in London with his family, has been involved with many charity fundraising events over the years but in the last four years he has raised over €40,000 for the hospice through the sales of his popular calendar that features the people and places of Donegal.

He launched the 2017 calendar on the Shaun Doherty Show on Highland Radio this morning.

Speaking to the Donegal Democrat/Donegal People’s Press he said the money raised is going to a very worthy cause.

He thanked all those who have supported the project and says the 2017 calendar will be available in many locations around the county and in London in the coming weeks.

“They will be available in the next couple of weeks and the proceeds go to the Donegal Hospice. I ask for people to buy a few of them and help distribute them to friends or family or others in their communities, as all goes to a very good cause,”he said.

The cover of this years publication is the historic granite cross at the old Ray Church in Falcarragh. Brendan said he chose the image because of the historical significance of the site.

He said he would also urge Donegal County Council to improve the access to the area of the cross as the roadway leading to the site is in poor condition.
