By the end of 2016 there is expected to be 30 new social housing units under construction by Donegal County Council across the county.
The 30 units will be located in Ardara, Manorcunningham,Newtoncunningham and Carndonagh.
Council members were updated on the Donegal County Council 2015-202 Social Housing Capital Programme by Chief Executive Seamus Neely at their recent meeting who said that over the next six years 530 new units will be delivered through the construction of approximately 35 new social housing schemes across the five municipal districts.
He said to date department approval had been received for a total of 147 housing units with a total combined budget of €21,913,4778.
The delivery of the 530 units will be supported through house purchases, with 45 units, to date in 2016, being either purchased or under offer to a total value of €6.3 million.
He said the developments were subject receipt of the relevant stages of approval from the Government.
Mr Neely added that the realignment scheme for the Blackburn Bridge on the N15 , was largely complete and pavementimprovement works from Lifford Bridge to the Rossgier junction are due to commence in the coming weeks.
