Friday, September 30th

Donegal Voices Concert

Singers from all over the county, including Donegal Town, present Vivaldi’s Gloria and Bach’s Magnificat in D, conducted by Andrew Batchelor and accompanied by Ian Mills at 8pm in Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Letterkenny and Friday, October in St. Anne’s Church, Ballyshannon at 8pm.

Barn dance

Dunkineely Methodist Church is the venue for tonight's barn dance. Music by Kieran McAree. Admission is seven euro, including super. All welcome.

Saturday, October 1st

Abbey Centre performance

Theatre Group Askeraden from Oslo led by Kinlpugh man Phelim Rooney will perform Obsen's Peeer Gynt in the Abbey Centre at 8 pm. The performance is hosted by Ballyshannon Drama Society as part of the Donegal Bay and Bluestack festival.

Abbott Reunion

The 10th annual Abbott Reunion is taking place from 9pm in the Central Hotel, Donegal Town. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Available from: Central Hotel, Donegal Town; Slevin’s, Ballyshannon; Andie’s, Stranorlar; Floyd’s, Dunkineely; Potting Shed, Ashtree Garden Centre, Donegal Town.

Gay McIntyre Concert

There is a concert with the Gay McIntyre Trio in Áislann Chill Chartha as part of the Donegal Bay and Blue Stacks Festival.

Derry alto saxophone player and clarinettist Gay McIntyre is one of the living legends of the Irish and UK jazz and big band scene. Hugely admired by the likes of Nat King Cole (who once asked him move to America and join his band), Humphrey Lyttleton, Acker Bilk and Kenny Ball, Gay has been performing, touring, teaching and living music for over 60 years.

Gay will be accompanied by his longtime friend John Trotter on trombone, violin, accordion, piano and vocals. Also from Derry, John will be well-known to showband aficionados as a member of The Plattermen and other bands. Alan Niblock from Belfast on bass completes the line-up. Alan is also a highly regarded musician and composer.

Doors open at 8pm, concert 8.30, admission €10.

Sunday, October 2nd

Hospice Remembrance

Donegal Hospice Remembrance Service will be held on Sunday at 4pm in the Church of the Irish Martyrs, Letterkenny.

Dan McTeague CD launch

Dan McTeague will launch his new CD in the Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny, at 8pm with lots of entertainment by ‘The Pattersons’ and the Letterkenny Musical Society. All proceeds will go to Mary’s Meals. Everyone is welcome to come along for a night of song. CD - €10.

Harvest Thanksgiving Service

Monreagh Presbyterian Church will hold its Harvest Thanksgiving Service at 7.30 pm. in Johnston Presbyterian. The service will be led by Rev Dr Harold Mc Connell, former member of the congregation. Supper will be served in the Church Hall. Everyone welcome.
