Sinead Jennings of Letterkenny and Claire Lambe will take their place this afternoon (Thursday) in the Olympic final in the women’s lightweight double sculls.
And Letterkenny people have been invited to watch the big race at Sinead’s family home in the town.
Residents of Hawthorn Heights were decorating the estate today in advance of the final, and the public has been invited to come up to cheer on Sinead and Claire in their medal attempt.
Sinead and Claire are to start in lane six in the women’s lightweight double sculls final at about 2.30pm Irish time.
They are the first Irish female crew to reach an Olympic final.
