Closure order on takeaway lifted

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) served a closure order on the Nite Star takeaway in Glenties last month and lifted it a week later.

The closure order was issued to the Nite Star takeaway on Main Street in Glenties on July 13th, and lifted a week later on July 20th.

Enforcement orders were issued by environmental health officers in the Health Service Executive.

The FSAI served 12 closure orders and one prohibition order on food businesses in July for breaches of food safety legislation.

A closure order is served where it is deemed that there is, or there is likely to be, a grave and immediate danger to public health at or in the premises.

Meanwhile, five closure orders were issued nationally under the EC Official Control of Foodstuffs Regulations 2010. It was served on Craigs Fresh (wholesale), Drumnabratty in Raphoe on July 3rd. It has not yet been lifted.
