Over 250 Donegal teenagers attended a unique and highly energised health awareness last Thursday at the Abbey Hotel.
Foróige has been running a special health and wellbeing programme in conjunction with schools, youth projects and clubs around the country called; Be Healthy, Be Happy but this was the first regional seminar.
Guest speaker was the inspirational Nikki Bradley who, despite being diagnosed with bone cancer at 16 and having two hip replacements by the age of 26, has trekked across Iceland, abseiled down a lighthouse and climbed mountains, all on crutches.
She told the audience, "Some of the challenges I have attempted have pushed me to the limit but I don't regret any of them.
“Each and every experience teaches me something new about myself and because of that I know I will never stop doing what I love."
Other speakers included: Karen Duggan from Jigsaw on mental health; nutritionist Blaithin Dooley and personal trainer Ryan O’Donnell.
Fun exercise classes with Energy Hub also proved to be a real highlight.
The seminar was supported by IPB insurance.
